Eyelight was founded in 2006 by a group of photography printing course students from the UAL London College of Communication (formerly the London College of Printing).
From 2001 to 2006, I (Franck Toto) taught on this course and remained connected with a number of highly motivated and talented photographers, all eager to continue developing their practice collaboratively. What began as monthly group critique sessions soon grew into a series of themed exhibitions over four years, culminating in the self-publication of our collective photobook, ELEMENTS. Along the way, new collaborators joined, contributing to exhibitions and wider conversations about photography and visual culture.
Over time, while many members pursued individual paths, a dedicated core remained. Our drive to share work with the public remains as strong as ever. Reunited with fresh momentum, we continue to develop and present new projects—across temporary venues, open spaces, and digital platforms—inviting audiences into our evolving visual world. We look forward to sharing more through upcoming events.
